Who we are

Consumed is a personal tracking app for the things you watch, read, listen to, visit, eat, and experience. It’s made by Tinker Studios LLC. This policy describes what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email consumed@tinkerstudiosinc.com.

What we collect

• Account info. Your name, a username you choose, an email address, and an optional avatar photo. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never stored in plain text.
• Items you add. Titles, categories, notes, metadata (e.g., director, author, release year), worth-it verdicts, and the dates you log or consume things.
• Social data. Who you follow, who follows you, follow requests, and any users you’ve blocked or reported.
• Usage events. Basic in-app events tied to your account (e.g., “viewed feed”, “added item”, “opened stats”) so we can see which features get used. This is first-party only — we don’t use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we don’t sell this data. We don’t currently collect crash reports; if we add crash reporting later we’ll update this policy.
• Autofill lookups. When you use autofill to add an item, the title, search text, or URL you provide is sent to a third-party service to fetch matching titles, cover art, release years, addresses, and similar metadata. For URL-based lookups (like pasting an article link), we fetch the page on your behalf to read its public metadata. Only the search text or URL is sent — never your name, account, or other personal details. You can always skip autofill and type the details yourself.
• Browser extension data. If you install the Consumed browser extension, it reads the URL and basic metadata (title, description) of pages you choose to log so it can pre-fill an item for you. It doesn’t observe your general browsing — only the page you’re actively logging.
• Where things came from. When you add an item that you discovered through another user — for example, by tapping an item on their profile or in your feed — we record that link between the two records. This lets us attribute discoveries back to the people who shared them.
• Device info. Limited technical data the app needs to run (e.g., screen size, OS version, time zone). We don’t collect device identifiers for advertising.

What’s public vs. private

Your profile is public by default. You can flip it to private in Edit Profile. When private, only users you approve can see your items and follow you.

Aggregate counts on item detail pages (how many people consumed a given title, what share found it worth it) combine data across profiles and aren’t tied back to specific users. Individual contributions are only shown on surfaces where you’d already see them — your own library, your following’s items, and the “Friends with this” list.

Your notes are always private to you. They’re never shown to other users or included in search that others can see.

How we use the data

To operate, secure, and improve Consumed — sign you in, show your items to you and the people you share with, power search and discovery, deliver new and existing features, surface aggregate insights about how Consumed is used in forms that don’t identify individuals, fix bugs, prevent abuse, and respond to your support requests.

We don’t sell your personal information, we don’t use it for targeted advertising, and we don’t embed third-party tracking SDKs. If any of that ever changes, we’ll update this policy first.

Who we share with

We use a small number of trusted third-party service providers to run Consumed — for example, to host our database, authentication, and file storage; to deliver transactional emails like sign-up confirmation and password reset; and to look up public metadata about the titles you log. Each provider only receives what it needs for its job: the metadata services get just the search text you type; the email provider gets just the recipient address; the hosting provider stores your account and content on our behalf. Each provider is contractually required to protect your data to a standard at least equivalent to this policy and to use it only to deliver the service we’ve engaged them for.

We may also disclose information if required by law or valid legal process. Other than that, we don’t share your data with anyone — and never with advertisers.

Your choices

• Edit or delete items at any time from your profile.
• Block another user to hide yourselves from each other everywhere in the app.
• Delete your account from Edit Profile. This is permanent and irreversible: it deletes your account and everything tied to it — your items, notes, verdicts, follows, follow requests, blocks, reports, and usage events — and your email address becomes available to register with again. A residual copy may persist in routine backups for a short time before it ages out.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, get a copy in a portable format, or object to certain uses. To make a request, email us at consumed@tinkerstudiosinc.com from the address linked to your account so we can verify you. California residents have rights under the CCPA; people in the EU/UK have rights under the GDPR.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. Delete your account (above) to remove it. If you only email us to ask for deletion, please write from the address linked to your account so we can verify you.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, and our authentication provider follows current best practices for password hashing and session management. No security measure is perfect, but we work continually to protect your information.

Children

Consumed isn’t directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK), and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we’ll surface the update in-app before it takes effect. The date above reflects the most recent change.
